Hiking in the dark
The hiking start from the parking area of Pura Pasar Agung which is a temple situated at the base of Mount Agung in Karangasem. When the weather is clear, we could see the crater rim of Mount Agung. During the first hour, we will pass the thick forest with some roots as the staircase. And once we get to the open space, we could see the stars in the sky and the lights of Southern Bali. The rocky and steep slopes here will test your climbing skill.
Sunrise Watching on the summit
There is no coffee that can beat the taste of “Bali coffee on the top of Bali’s highest volcano while watching the sun rising over the horizon line”. It could be chill as we will be 3031 meters above the sea level, right on the edge of the crater. The summit is often quiet, 10 out of 200 compared to people on Mount Batur. As we are on the highest point in the entire island, we could see all the mountains in Bali and Lombok, the Nusa islands in the south, and the Gili islands in the east. So don’t forget to bring your camera!
Descending with amazing view
While descending with a smile on our face after sunrise, we will see the view of the surrounding areas that we passed in the dark. There’s no way you’re going to go home and not remember that you actually hike the highest mountain. It will surely put your fitness level and your bravery against height to the test. Only a few travelers who come to visit Bali that has done this hike and they are proud of it!
So, are you ready to conquer the highest peak?
